Okonomoiyaki Recipe with Potato, Onion and SPAM

I think of Okonomiyaki recipes with ingredients that are easily available even if you’re out of Japan.

Today’s recipe is Okonomiyaki with potato, onion, and SPAM.

Ingredients

*Filling
1/4 onoin
1/4 potato
1/4 cabbage
2-3 slice of SPAM meat
shredded cheese

*Batter
1 egg
1 cup of flour
1/2 cup of water

*Sauce&Toppings
ketchup
mayonnaise

Directions:

1.Cut onion into small pieces.

2.Cut potato.

3.Microwave potato and onions for 1-2 mins (600W) until both of them a half cooked.

4.Cut cabbage.

5.Cut SPAM meat. I used this Luncheon Meat (Less Salt)

4.Make batter.

5.Mix everything together.

6.Fry with a heated frying pan.
Make it in a circle shape.
This time, I made 3 mini Okonomiyaki for snacks.

7. Add Cheese on top of Okonomiyaki.
Wait until bottom side is well grilled for 3-5mins.

7.Flip it over and top with sauce and mayo.

I used flat ones but doesn’t matter flat or normal string beans.

Ingredients

*Filling
string beans
1/4 cabbage
2-3 pieces of sausages

*Batter
1 egg
1 cup of flour
1/2 cup of water

*Sauce&Toppings
Okonomiyaki Sauce
mayonnaise
katsuo-bushi(bonito flakes)
aonori(dried seaweed)

Directions:

1.Cut string beans into 5mm~1cm pieces.

2.Cut cabbage into thin rectangles.

3.Cut sausages into small pieces.

4.Make batter.

5.Mix everything together.

6.Fry with a heated frying pan.
Make it in a circle shape. Flip it over 3-5 mins after bottom side is well grilled.

7.Top with sauce, mayo and topping flakes.

Ichiaki is the most popular Okonomiyaki restaurant in the area and located in the center of main street Dotonbori.
They are specialized in making photogenic Okonomiyaki. They even write messages on it.
Friendly staffs and good service!!
You can also enjoy a beautiful scenery of Dotonbori river.
